By now, you have likely heard about the tragic murder of Charlie Kirk. At just 31 years old, while courageously proclaiming Jesus on a university campus here in our nation, his life was cut short by a senseless act of violence.

In addition, today we pause to remember the horrific tragedy of 9/11, which took place twenty-four years ago and forever changed our nation. Both moments remind us of the brokenness of this world and the deep need for the hope that only Christ can give.

Moments like these has the potential of stirring up deep questions within us. Thinkgs like::

Where is God when tragedy strikes?

Why does bold faith seem to be met with such hostility?

How should we, as believers (followers of Jesus), respond to the choas we face in such a fractured world?

Jesus prepared His disciples for this very reality:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Make sure you notice that Jesus did not deny the presence of trouble. In fact, He promised it. But He also promised something far greater: His peace and His victory!

Charlie’s life, and the message he proclaimed, remind us that the true measure of faith is not whether it shields us from trouble, but whether it sustains us in the midst of it. Genuine faith in Jesus does not crumble when tested. Instead, it deepens, grows stronger, and shines even brighter when darkness tries to overshadow it.

So what does this mean for you and me (as leaders)? I believe it is a call to:

Run to Jesus as our refuge. Remember, He is our safe place when life is uncertain.

Hold fast to hope. While death may claim a body, it has no power over eternal life.

Live boldly. This broken world does not need timid believers. It needs bold leaders, passionate Christians, and a Spirit-filled witness.

Let be clear, the brokenness of this world is real. But so is the victory of Christ! Charlie’s story is not defined by how his life ended, but by the One who gave him life, sustained his faith, and welcomed him home.

May we honor his life (and witness), by taking up the same mantle of bold faith. Let’s stand together, unashamed, speak with courage, and love with conviction. And let’s remember that although the world is broken, Jesus has already overcome it!

So, take heart. Our hope is unshaken. Our victory is secure. And our mission is not finished

When Bold Faith Meets a Broken World This week has been difficult, and my heart has been heavy.
