Church Accounting Services

Practical resources to help pastors and church leaders strengthen financial stewardship and administration.

Good financial stewardship is an important part of healthy church leadership. Whether it’s managing payroll, maintaining accurate financial records, or preparing financial reports, these responsibilities require time, attention, and often specialized expertise.

Over the years, I’ve become familiar with several companies that provide bookkeeping, accounting, and financial management services for churches and nonprofit organizations. I’ve compiled this list as a resource for pastors, treasurers, and church leadership teams who may be exploring options for additional assistance. Each provider offers different services, areas of specialization, and levels of support.

Please understand that this list is intended simply as a helpful resource and starting point for your consideration. It is not a ranking or endorsement of the companies included.

I encourage you to take some time to explore the options, ask questions, compare services and costs, and determine which provider might best meet the needs of your church.

BEFORE CHOOSING A PROVIDER

• Identify and prioritize the services your church needs: payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, contribution tracking, and financial reporting.

• Ask about church and clergy-specific issues, including housing allowances, designated or restricted funds, payroll filings, and financial controls.

• Request a written scope of services, sample monthly reports, references, and the full monthly or annual cost (including setup fees).

• Clarify who will access accounts, approve payments, retain records, and remain responsible for financial oversight.

A NOTE FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

While I haven’t personally worked with all seven companies listed, each has an established presence in providing financial services to churches and nonprofit organizations.

The company I’m most familiar with is Your Church Admin. I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with them over the years and have been extremely pleased with the quality of their work, their professionalism, and the knowledgeable support they’ve provided to the ministry in which I serve.

Of course, every church has different needs, and I encourage you to explore these options carefully to determine which provider might be the best fit for your ministry.
